Vanuatu to send delegation to Turkey

9:52 pm on 29 October 2014

Vanuatu's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Ham Lini, is to lead a high level delegation to Turkey early next month.

The trip has been confirmed by Vanuatu's Honourary Consul in Istanbul, Mehmet Atar.

It comes on the heels of an agreement by the Turkish Government to allow ni Vanuatu students to study on Turkish scholarships, in Turkish universities, with two students already studying there.

The Government of Turkey is also providing x-ray machines to scan arrivals at Vanuatu's ports and airports.

Vanuatu's Minister for Agriculture, David Tosul, says this shows Turkey recognises the country's economic shortfalls and its willingness to help border control.
