Solomons and Fiji in new bid to end aviation dispute

Fresh attempts will be made on Tuesday to overcome a three-month aviation row between Fiji and Solomon Islands.

Direct flights between Nadi and Honiara have been suspended since the dispute erupted in July.

It began when Solomon Islands declined a request by Fiji Airways to add a Saturday flight between the countries.

Solomon Islands says Solomon Airlines had a scheduled flight on Saturdays while Fiji has alleged there was political interference in the negotiations and Solomon Airlines breached an existing commercial agreement.
