Congresswoman takes swipe at predecessor

5:12 pm on 12 November 2014

American Samoa's newly elected congresswoman Aumua Amata says the days of keeping the public in the dark about what's going on in Congress are over.

She says she will stay in close touch and intends to return to the territory every other month to bring updates of what is going on in Washington.

Aumua Amata says when she's not on island she will hold electronic town hall meetings to communicate with the people of American Samoa.

She said too many people get elected and then forget how they got to that high position in the first place.
