Samoa's police tribunal has found four police officers guilty of breaching their duties for locking up a three-year old child.

The child's father was taken into custody for driving an unlicensed vehicle and as the child was in the car at the time of the arrest, the boy was also jailed.

The four officers are Inspector Keti Tole'afoa and Sergeant Fetu Taalili of the traffic division as well as Corporal Filipo Ma'a and Constable Nikisone Isaia.

The acting police commissioner, Afamasaga Michael So'onalole, says the officers could face dismissal or a disciplinary penalty under the Police Act.
