Sport: Flying Fijians coach to give full squad a chance

Flying Fijians coach John McKee plans to give some of his wider squad members a run in this weekend's final tour match against the United States.

Fiji were beaten 17-13 by Wales in Cardiff on Sunday, having lost their opening tour match against France the week before.

A weakened US team were thrashed 40-12 against Tonga last week and John McKee says it's important Fiji afford their opponents the proper respect and don't treat it as a lesser game.

McKee says the team he selects will be competitive but he does want to give a chance to some who haven't had much game-time.

"I'm also conscious of a couple of players who haven't had a lot of opportunity on tour thus far so it's a little bit of both. We brought 31 players have been involved in the tour so I want to make sure that they do get a chance to put their hand up for next year before the tour's over. A couple of those players who haven't featured so much in the first two games will get their opportunity this week but it will be a very strong team that we put out on the park".
