The runoff election for governor of Northern Marianas between the incumbent Eloy Inos and the former speaker Heinz Hofschneider is underway.
Mr Inos says the endorsement of already ousted candidates in the contest almost guarantees him election.
But Mr Hofschneider says those who voted against Mr Inos in the general elections are more likely to support him in the runoff, guaranteeing him victory.
In the preliminary poll on the 4th of November, Mr Inos got nearly 47 percent of the vote - to win the candidate needs 50 percent plus one.
