UNICEF Pacific's new ambassador, Krishneer Sen says there is a still a lack of knowledge of childrens' rights.
The 27 year old ambassador from Fiji, who is deaf, will have a special focus on children with disabilities.
He says the greatest challenge for children in the region who are living with a disability is their lack of self esteem.
Mr Sen says is important governments are supportive in raising awareness about childrens' rights.
