Fonotoe's appeal in Samoa deferred

3:44 pm on 3 December 2014

An appeal by Samoa's deputy prime minister over his conviction in a traffic-related offence has been adjourned by the Supreme Court until December the 15th.

On Monday, Fonotoe Pierre Lauofo's lawyer sought an adjournment so he could finalise trial documents.

This was granted by Chief Justice Patu Falefatu Sapolu.

Fonotoe was convicted in May of obstructing police from carrying out their duties following a heated argument on the night of October 4th last year.

He was ordered to pay for police costs.
