Fiji govt slams 'unconstructive' budget debate contributions

9:46 am on 5 December 2014

The Fiji Government is unlikely to consider the Opposition's suggestions at the end of the first week of budget debates.

Fiji Live reports finance minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum labelling the Opposition's contribution to the debates this week as one that can't be taken seriously.

He says the Opposition has once again failed to rise above petty politics and offer constructive advice, instead relying on deception, half-truths and deliberate misinformation.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum says the budget is bold, responsible and appropriate to Fiji's needs and resources, and underpins the government's long-term plan for a united and prosperous future.

The debate on the budget is expected to continue next week.
