Fiji has qualified for Round 2 of the Hockey World League after both the men's and women's team proved too strong for Papua New Guinea in the final round of group matches.

Shaun Corrie's men won 8-2 to advance to Saturday's Oceania Pacific Cup final against the New Zealand President's XI, and secure their place in the World League Round 2 event in Singapore next month.

Alison Southey's women recovered from an early PNG goal to triumph 3-1, and confirm their attendance in the World League second round in India in March.

The men had the day off before attempting to improve on last year's runners up finish in the Oceania Pacific Cup.

Meanwhile Australia Country thumped winless Samoa 14-0 and will play off for third against PNG.

The Australian women put seven unanswered goals past Samoa and will take on New Zealand Country in Saturday's OPC final.

Defending women's champion Fiji fill take on PNG for bronze, while Vanuatu and Samoa will playoff on Friday morning for fifth place.
