Papua New Guinea's Customs Commissioner says reputable international companies and law enforcement agencies are part of a cargo smuggling syndicate.

The Post Courier says Ray Paul made the claim after his officers confiscated 10 shipping containers and three trucks at Port Moresby Wharf after realising that documents were forged.
He says a good number of respected officials from the customs department, Port Services, and law enforcement agencies are party to the syndicate.
Mr Paul says he will provide more information at a media conference today.
