Sport: PNG star excited by Renegades call-up

Papua New Guinea batsmen Lega Siaka says he intends to learn as much as possible during his time with the Melbourne Renegades cricket team in the Australian T20 Big Bash League.

The 21 year-old has been signed as a Community Rookie player, following in the footsteps of Barramundi's teammates Assad Vala and Charles Amini Junior.

He says the call-up came as a big surprise and he's excited at the chance to train and play alongside the likes of Australian captain Aaron Finch and former New Zealand opener Jesse Ryder.

"I'm happy to learn a lot from them and also take something back to Cricket PNG - just watch them what they are doing, what they are eating, their routine [and] stuff like that. I hope I will learn a lot and take something back home to tell teammates or players or Cricket PNG they're doing it like that."

Lega Siaka says it will be hard to break into the main playing eleven but he plans to work hard and give it his best shot.
