Fiji TV Executive Director Nouzab Fareed says the station did in fact write a letter to World Rugby supporting the government's call to share their broadcasting rights.
Two senior managers were fired in the aftermath of the loss of rugby coverage because the sport's governing body objected to a government decree overriding Fiji TV's rights.
The coverage was released after Fiji TV wrote a letter supporting the government's call to share the rights with the public broadcaster FBC.
But one of the dismissed managers said the Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had given the prepared letter to the station's chairman and chief executive to sign.

Mr Fareed disputes this.
"They won't sign a letter without reading it. It is not written by the government. I don't think the government will write a letter on behalf of the company but some of the wording, how we are writing to World Rugby may be in line with what the government wrote to World Rugby."
