The row between the two countries over air service agreements has prevented the airlines from both countries from flying between Solomon Islands and Fiji since July last year.

Fiji's Foreign Minister, Ratu Inoke Kubuabloa, met with his Solomon Islands counterpart, Milner Tozaka, in Honiara today to reopen the latest round of negotiations, after several previous attempts failed.

Mr Tozaka says resolving the impasse is one of his newly-elected government's top priorities.

" Well it's very very important for us for our government and also for our people, for our airlines to resume operations based on the original air service agreement."

The two ministers will meet in Fiji to continue negotiations next week.
