Sport: EAP cricketers finish winless at country champs

East Asia Pacific finished winless and dead last at the Australian Country Cricket Championships after a nine wickets thrashing by New South Wales Country in their final matchin Bendigo.

Batting first the EAP team were all out for 181 in the 48th over.

Captain Jason Kila top-scored with 41 while Dogodo Bau and Riley Hekure chipped in with 30 and 29 respectively.

In reply, New South Wales rocketed to their target inside 24 overs for the loss of only one wicket, with skipper Simon Moore finishing on 94 not out, and fellow opener Patrick Rosser making 61 in a 140-run opening stand.

The EAP team, featuring players from Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Fiji, finished with four losses and one draw, while Queensland Country defeated Western Australia Country by three wickets to take out the overall title.

Meanwhile Jason Kila was selected in the 2015 Australian Country XI for the second year in a row and won the Don Bradman Batting Award after scoring 196 runs in the campaign.
