The Australian Greens are calling for the government to release the Human Rights Commission's report into the treatment of children in immigration detention.
Australia keeps hundreds of children of asylum seekers in detention, many of them in camps in Nauru.
Senator Sarah Hanson-Young says the government is attempting to discredit the Commission before it releases the report.
She says the report will no doubt reveal the systematic abuse of refugee children and the government is resorting to tactics to distract from the report's findings.
Ms Hanson-Young says evidence provided to the Commission reveals the sad truth of life for children in detention, which include skyrocketing mental health concerns, abuse and children self-harming.
She says the government has been sitting on this report for months and it is time for it to be released so the Australian public can make up their own mind.
Australia's policies have been widely condemned.
