Sport: NZ netballers light on Pacific knowledge

11:35 am on 16 January 2015

Silver Ferns netball coach Wai Taumaunu admits they don't know much about their opponents heading into next week's Oceania Tri Series.

New Zealand will play two tests each against Samoa and Fiji in their first ever trip to Suva.

The last time the Silver Ferns played against the hosts was at the 2011 World Cup in Singapore while they last played Samoa in 2010.

Wai Taumaunu concedes her knowledge about their Pacific neighbours is not great.

"No. A little bit so we're familiar with the names but no I'd have to say we're not very familiar with the style or of the personnel at this point".

Meanwhile former Samoa shooter Cathrine Latu has been left out of the Silver Ferns squad due to a lack of fitness and conditioning.
