One of two election petitions filed in Tonga against People's Representatives for alleged bribery are coming up in the Supreme Court next week.

Matangi Tonga reports that one of the petitions filed with the court in December is against Samiu Vaipulu, the Vava'u People's Representative and former Deputy Prime Minister.

An unsuccessful Vava'u candidate, Tomifa Paea, filed the petition, which has been set down to be called on Tuesday.

The other election petition is against Vava'u People's Representative and new Minister of Infrastructure Hon 'Etuate Lavulavu for alleged bribery or illegal practices, filed by Viliami Latu and 'Aisea Siliveinusi.

A court date for the second case has not been set.
