The number of confirmed cases of dengue fever in Fiji's Northern Division has risen to 46.

FBC News reports a health ministry spokesperson, Sunil Chandra, saying there were seventeen cases from the north this past week alone.

He says officials are preparing response plans to combat the outbreak, but is asking people to get rid of possible mosquito breeding areas.
