Fiji slipped to third in the overall standings after being knocked out by England in the Cup quarterfinals in Wellington at the weekend.

Fiji have not made a Cup final since winning on the Gold Coast in October, and this weekend's event in Las Vegas has not been a happy hunting ground in the past.

But Ben Ryan believes results don't tell the full story.

"If we'd beaten England in that quarter final it would have been at least 20 points difference between us and anybody outside the top four, and that's one foot in Olympics qualification. We've lost one game in extra time here, one game in extra time in Dubai, we didn't lose in Gold Coast - we've got a very good win-ratio...and we're going to go to Vegas with a point to prove."

Fiji play Pacific rivals Samoa and Wales on day one, and complete their pool against New Zealand tomorrow.
