Samoa's parliament to go mobile this year

7:29 am on 16 February 2015

Samoa's parliament is being forced to move because of the deteriorating condition of Parliament House due to changes in climate.

The cabinet press office says Parliament House is particularly unsound when it rains and sessions from february to August will be held in the Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi Conference Centre in Apia.

Construction work for the new Parliament House at Tiafau is expected to start next February, after Parliament is dissolved in January prior to elections.

Later this year parliament will shift further inland to the Hockey Stadium atTuanaimato.
