PIDF arrangements to be formalised by August

The Pacific Islands Development Forum is expected to have a draft establishment agreement in place by August.

The forum's outgoing secretary general, Feleti Teo, says the agreement will set out the long-term institutional and governance arrangements of the organisation.

FBC News reports Mr Teo says the process of establishing the agreement is highly consultative, and as many stakeholders as possible are being encouraged to contribute prior to the next leaders summit in August.

The Suva-based PIDF was launched in 2013 and is the brainchild of the Bainimarama regime in the wake of Fiji's suspension from the Pacific Islands Forum.
