Suit over botched CNMI airport project

The aviation firm Boeing is suing an American contractor over a defective airport project in the Northern Marianas.

A lawyer for Boeing has accused Leo A. Daly Company of littering the CNMI with inadequately designed buildings.

Boeing is claiming five million US dollars in damages and attorneys' fees over the design and construction of the defective terminal project at the Francisco C. Ada International Airport.

The CNMI government also sued the Nebraska firm in 2009 for the defective building plan of the dialysis center at the Commonwealth Health Centre.

That suit was settled for two million dollars.

Boeing's lawyer, Sean Frink, said the companies worked closely with the federal government to implement upgraded security systems at airports following the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
