Fiji re-engagement plan to go before World Bank board

The World Bank Board will be reviewing an interim plan for its activities in Fiji early next month as part of its re-engagement after Fiji's return to democracy last year.

The Bank's Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific, Axel van Trotsenburg is in Fiji where he has met the Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama to talk about the government's development plans.

Before the meeting, Mr van Trotsenburg said a major focus of the re-engagement would be on infrastructure development.

" We will go to our board with an interim strategy note in early March, we will also accompany this with a new 50 million dollar project for the road sector where we, working together with the Asian Development Bank to provide resources for the rehabilitation of roads."
