The Fiji Media Industry Development Authority has retracted a ruling it made against the daily newspaper, the Fiji Sun.
The Chairman of MIDA, Ashwin Raj, last month ruled that an article in the Sun was 'thoroughly yoked in the logic of race and bereft facts' and that another article was defamatory.

However, the Fiji Sun reports today that Mr Raj has retracted his own ruling, admitting that his decision was outside his legal powers.
The Fiji Sun's lawyer, Suruj Sharma, challenged the ruling of February the 9th.
The newspaper denied that its articles, attacking the opposition SODELPA party, and the leader of its youth wing, Pita Waqavonovono, were biased and defamatory.
Mr Raj also admitted that he did not convene a meeting of the authority when the official complaint was received about the article, and he made his decision without any consultation.
