The head of one of Fiji's prominent human rights organisations, the Citizens' Constitutional Forum, is stepping down.

Akuila Yabaki, who has been an outspoken critic of the Bainimarama regime, has been at the helm of the organisation for 16 years.

The Reverend Yabaki says he felt privileged to be part of CCF's vision advocating for equality, justice and respect for the rule of law in Fiji.

He also said it had been a challenge navigating Fiji's political situation over the years.
