An 18-strong Samoan team to compete in the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles has been announced by Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi.
The World Games features 10,000 athletes and coaches from 177 Special Olympics Programs around the world, competing in twenty-five sports.
Samoan athletes will compete in athletics, football, Bocce, and Power Lifting at the July games.
The Director of Special Olympics Samoa Ms Tusitina Nu'uvali says the event is an
opportunity for the athletes to shine and be empowered in representing their nation, and for all of Samoa see the abilities other than disabilities.
The Prime Minister also complimented the selection committee for implementing a gender balance policy that ensured an even number of male and female athletes and coaches.
