The chairman of Transparency International Papua New Guinea says there has been an improvement in general awareness about the problem of corruption throughout the country.
At least eight MPs have been referred to the prosecutor, Pondros Kaluwin, on misconduct charges, mainly for alleged corruption.
Additionally three MPs in the current term have already been jailed on corruption charges.

Mr Kaluwin was the target of an attack outside his Port Moresby home a week ago but has pledged to continue probing corruption.
TI PNG's Lawrence Stephens says corruption remains pervasive in PNG but more people are actively speaking out against it.
"When you see a wider acknowledgement that people who ask you to pay a bribe in order to get your driver's license or to avoid being arrested for not having a license, more and more people understand what corruption is, more and more people are prepared to take a stand; and on this side of it, we fell there's been an improvement."
