Papua New Guinea's West New Britain province, which was badly affected by heavy rains last month, is yet to receive its share of over 300,000 US dollars the government has promised for disaster relief.

The Post Courier reports the provincial administrator as saying the provincial treasury was still awaiting funds the Government had promised would be released immediately for relief exercises.

The Finance Department in Port Moresby says it's still in the process of releasing the money, saying there were processes to follow before it could release money to the provinces.

Funding has already been approved to eight other disaster-affected provinces.
