Former Fiji First MP voted against government

The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation says the MP who resigned last week had voted against the government in the last sitting of parliament.

FBC News says Neil Sharma of the ruling FijiFirst Party voted in favour of a motion to review the current procurement and supply process in light of the special needs of some patients.

He did not vote on a motion concerning a review of compensation for peacekeepers.

Dr Sharma was the health minister in the military-backed government before last year's election.

In November, the Fijileaks website published documents which suggested that the Independent Commission against Corruption was carrying out investigations into the Ministry of Health.

The published excerpts relate to a contract that was awarded in 2011 and centre on Dr Sharma.
