Australia has selected their first group of athletes to compete at this year's Pacific Games in Port Moresby.

Sailors Carissa Bridge, Mark Spearman and Thomas Vincent have been chosen to travel to Papua New Guinea in July.

17-year-old Bridge is the daughter of 1992 and 1996 Olympic sailor Christine, while 20-year-old Spearman represented Australia at the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games.

Australia and New Zealand have been invited to contest the Pacific Games for the first time this year, in four sports: sailing, taekwondo, weightlifting and rugby sevens.
