Nothing fishy about Samoa's new plant, say owners

The Taiwanese owners of Samoa's first fish processing plant says they are impressed with the 600 tonnes of fish that has already been exported since its opening.

The Managing Director of Yuh Yow fisheries, a major shareholder in the plant, Chen Chao Ting, says his company will provide jobs for local people both directly and indirectly.

Mr Chen also set about reassuring Samoans that his company will not overfish Samoa's waters.

"We are trying to be very careful. It is less than five percent taken from the Apia EEZ."
