Johnny Blades reports:

"PNG's Prime Minister Peter O'Neill and the Governor of the National Capital, Powes Parkop, have both hailed the project's completion as a big step in Port Moresby's bid to be a world class city.

The O'Neill led government is making unprecedented investments in infrastructure projects around the country, seeing it as a critical stimulus to economic activity and employment.

The project, whose construction was led by New Zealand company Hawkins Group, comes weeks before PNG holds the Pacific Games and ahead of other major events, incuding celebrations for the 40th anniversary of independence later this year, and hosting the 2018 APEC leaders summit.

Perhaps of more impact to daily lives, the flyover is expected to ease the notorious traffic jams in this busy part of Moresby."
