Tonga will mark next month's coronation of King Tupou VI with a public holiday on Tuesday the 7th of July.

The Prime Minister's Office says the decision is a one-off, and it is part of honouring and celebrating the ceremony and formal investiture of Tonga's reigning monarch.

The official program for the Coronation starts on the 27th of June and ends on Monday the 6th of July.
