Papua New Guinea has four new knights, recognised by the Queen for their contributions to the community.

The new knights are Enga Governor Peter Ipatas, National Court judge Warwick Andrew, businessman Kostas George Constantinou and Electoral Commissioner Andrew Trawen.

The Queen honoured other Papua New Guineans for their distinguished services, including Health Minister Michael Malabag, with an Order of the British Empire medal, his sixth such honour.

The Post Courier reports that Mr Malabag is one of the few to have six honours awards from all the five governor-generals of PNG since independence.

Elsewhere, Bank of PNG Governor Loi Bakani and the High Commissioner to Briatin Winnie Anna Kiap were honoured for distinguished public service.
