Organisers of the Commonwealth Youth Games in Apia say all facilities are on target to be ready by the end of next month.

Up to 1000 athletes from 69 countries will visit Samoa in September to contest nine sports.

The CEO of the Commonwealth Games Federation, David Grevemberg, spent two days in the country last week, meeting officials and checking on venues.

The Chief Co-ordinator for the 2015 Youth Games, Vitolio Lui, says everything is currently well on schedule.

"The renovations to the Apia Park stadium and tennis court handover would be around the 22nd of June, the Chinese contractors tell us and so would be the aquatic centre at Tuanamato. The only new facility is the squash courts and that should be completed by the end of July. The other venues are just overlay and that should be completed well ahead of September".

The Samoa government has allocated two and half million US dollars in the new financial year budget for hosting the games.
