Local contractors in Papua New Guinea want more say in the running of Australia's asylum seeker detention centre on Manus Island.
The call comes with the current management company's contract expiring later this year.
The Post Courier newspaper reports Transfield is being pressured by local contractors such as Sunam Clean and Pehikoko waste management to let them into the facility operation.
The Transfield's operations manager Rick Murrow is reported as saying he is reluctant to award contracts to local companies because of ongoing political inteference.
Mr Murrow says Transfield already employs 400 locals while its subsidiary Wilson Security employs 700 PNG guards.
But local companies are saying this is not enough and are pushing for inclusion when the bidding opens for a new management company in four months time.
