Relentless rain in Ireland has prevented Papua New Guinea from going two from two in their second Twenty20 qualifier against Hong Kong.

The PNG Barramundis beat Jersey by 24 runs yesterday, and were overnight hopeful of doing even better against a Hong Kong side that lost the corresponding fixture.

But the typically unpredictable Irish weather prevented a ball being bowled.

PNG coach Dipak Patel said his team just loved playing the sport and was not obsessed with winning.

"They're always happy regardless either way, whether we win or lose, we are happy to play each game as we go along. The most important aspect which I've tried to install in them is that we need to improve with each game, and that's not just in T20."

The top six sides from the 18-day tournament in Britain qualify for the World Twenty20 tournament in India next year.
