Samoa's cabinet has upheld a Public Service Commission recommendation to sack the electoral commissioner, Papalii Malietau Melietoa.
But the minister responsible for the commission, Lautafi Fio Selafi Purcell, says the decision could end up in court as the sacked commissioner is seeking legal advice.
Lautafi says the commission's decision to remove Papalii followed the normal process afforded to any public service, although he says his case is being looked at.
