The Flying Fijians believe success in the Pacific Nations Cup is an important plank in their Rugby World Cup preparations.

Fiji came from behind to beat Tonga 30-22 in Suva at the weekend, and are currently en-route to the USA for games against Samoa and Japan.

Ospreys playmaker Josh Matavesi says while the World Cup is the main target this season, doing well in the PNC is a crucial step in that process.

"It builds confidence. Going into a big campaign like the World Cup you need to be as confident as possible and getting combinations right. That gives us enough time to do that but also remember we don't spend much time together as a team so having two months or three months together just makes us that much better".

Josh Matavesi says Fiji are expecting another typically physical encounter against the Manu.
