Sport: Pacific Special Olympic teams succeed

Team Fiji's Special Olympics World Games campaign has seen more success.

Esther Molly who won gold in the 100 metres last week bagged another gold medal in the mini-javelin throw while Sikeli Nakoivalu won a bronze in the same even and Adi Asenaca Ranadi Rokorairuku won a bronze in the 200 metres.

The Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Iliesa Delana says the medals are a great achievement with over 6500 athletes competing at the event.

American Samoa nab a gold

American Samoa's team to the Special Olympics World Games will return home with one gold medal and two bronze medals.

The gold was won by Justin Lutu in the mens one hundred meter dash.

Justin ended the race in second place but the winner was disqualified and he was awarded the gold medal.

Apati Tua won a bronze medal for the womens one hundred meter dash.

Lauren Meredith also won a bronze medal in shotput.

American Samoa's unified soccer team lost the bronze medal match to the Philippines by a score of 4-3.
