Fuel spill at Saipan port contained

Northern Marianas authorities have contained a fuel spill after Saipan was hit by Typhoon Soudelor last Sunday night.

A fuel tank was damaged when a container fell into it and some of the contents leaked out.

But this was contained within the bund and has now been cleaned up by CNMI authorities with the help of the Coast Guard and fuel companies.

In a separate incident, another container ripped a small hole in a tank and fuel from this was fully contained within the Mobil terminal, with no impact on the harbour.
