2:53 pm on 12 August 2015

A Fiji businessman has been remanded in custody in Suva charged with importing nearly 80 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Fiji Police asked the Suva Magistrates Court to deny bail as the drug haul that was discovered in a container of spare parts is apparently worth US$47million.

FBC news reports authorities in New Zealand and Mexico are also involved in the case that led to the drug bust in Suva last Saturday.

The arrested man is due in the Suva High Court on the 21st of August.
