Fiji and Samoa have continued their upswing in form with victories at the Netball World Cup.

The Fiji Pearls made it three in a row, opening up a 15 goal lead against Barbados after three quarters before eventually winning 48-37.

Meanwhile Samoa recorded back to back wins, edging Zambia 55-53 at Allphones Arena.

Vice-captain Julianna Naoupu says the Africans provided a completely different challenge.

"They're very unique. I'm not meaning to sound really mean but they're just unorthodox - you can't play against an unorthodox team because whatever goes for them that's what works for them and it's hard to try and combat that or counter it so we just had to try and shut down as many passes as we could. We did a little bit of that but hoping to keep going forward with that one".

Samoa complete the second round tonight against Trinidad and Tobago with Fiji taking on Scotland.
