America Samoa have been thrashed 6-0 by Fiji in a one-off football international in Nadi, in their first senior match for four years.

Midfielder Taione Kerevanua put Fiji in front from the penalty spot after eight minutes.

Malakai Tiwa finally doubled their advantage nine minutes into the second half, with a powerful drive from outside the box, before the home side finished strongly with four more goals in the final half an hour.

American Samoa now head to Tonga for the first round of Oceania World Cup qualifiers, against Samoa, Cook Islands and the host nation.

The winner of that event will progress to next year's Oceania Nations Cup.
