Dengue still poses problem in American Samoa

The latest update from the American Samoa Department of health show another 32 cases of dengue in the past week.

This takes the total affected in the latest outbreak to 370.

Previously only cases of dengue seen at the LBJ Hospital Emergency Room and the Community health Centers were included in the report.

However the epidemiologist for the Department of Health Scott Anesi says they have now included all dengue patients seen and treated at the hospital clinics.

The number of dengue patients who were hospitalised in the latest report is 133, up from 125.

There's been no change in the number of deaths from dengue fever which remains at four.
