Sport: Brian Lima to assist Manu Samoa sevens

12:00 pm on 7 September 2015

Samoa rugby legend Muliagatele Brian Lima has been appointed assistant coach of the Manu sevens team.

He will work with new Head Coach Damian McGrath who begins his role this month, with the main focus being November's Oceania Olympic qualifier in Auckland.

Samoa Rugby CEO, Faleomavaega Vincent Fepuleai, says Muliagatele is a much loved former Manu Samoa player and a natural leader.

Faleomavaega says Samoa now have a coaching team that has the energy, enthusiasm and skill-set to move up the ladder on the World Sevens Series.

Lima is a former Samoa A head coach and defence coach for Manu Samoa, but stepped aside from the latter role last year, prior to being convicted for assault.
