Sport: PNG Hunters to make changes

Papua New Guinea Hunters coach Michael Marum says there will be changes to the line-up for this weekend's Queensland Cup preliminary final against Ipswich Jets.

The Hunters were beaten 26-12 by minor premiers the Townsville Blackhawks at the weekend, bringing their 17-match unbeaten streak to an end.

Michael Marum says the Hunters were guilty of making too many errors and there will be a reshuffle for this weekend.

"There will be changes. Some players need to pull up their socks and stuff but depending on what players we have left, that are not injured".

The match is being played at the neutral venue of Wynnum Manly's Kougari Oval.

Michael Marum says the decision was made by Queensland Rugby League and he's not sure why the higher-ranked Hunters are not able to host the game.

"We were just thinking about the game last weekend. I had in mind that we were going to have one more shot at the title back at home, because we finished second, but now it's not the case this time".

The winning team will advance to next weekend's final against Townsville at Suncorp Stadium.
