7:46 pm on 19 September 2015

Fiji's Health Minister says his ministry is in talks with the Nursing Association to try and resolve a dispute to do with health workers not being paid overtime.

The Fiji Times reports that concerns were raised in June when workers were told by the Ministry that overtime payments were being stopped becuase the 2015 budget provision had been exhausted.

The Confederation of Public Sector Unions then released a statement saying it was very concerned with the government's refusal to pay overtime rates to health workers.

However, the minister, Jone Usamate, says the ministry is looking internally to see what can be done to pay as much as possible.
