The Northern Marianas Government is closely monitoring two tropical disturbances in the region.

One storm system is about 1800 kilometres east of Guam and is expected to approach the Marianas over the next few days.

A second disturbance is currently moving to the west of the Marianas and is expected to continue moving away from the region, with flooding and high wind forecasts now withdrawn.

At the beginning of August Saipan was hit by Typhoon Soudelor causing huge damage on the island.
